nice to know he left that anime site, i was offended by his review of one of my favourite anime… no one of my favourtie films ever tekkonkinkreet. Ok i have not heard of or read the manga prior to experiencing the movie but i loved the film, but i understand that the music or film style may not be every one’s taste but as a reviewer he fails to appreciate the product before he applies personal preference.

I think things like notes at the top of the screen, and translations of signs and notes or whatever in fansubs are actually helpful in the sense that it elaborates a lot on what characters are talking about. I don’t find it distracting. There’s quite a few anime that have a lot of Japanese pop culture references and inside jokes that, if left un-translated, wouldn’t make sense in English (perfect examples are Gintama and Bleach). And the fact that they (the fansubbers) note things like this, it can result in the show you’re watching being funnier and also teach you a bit about Japanese culture. But, then again I guess that only matters to hardcore anime watchers and not really the general population.

Yeah it would have been nice if the song was 8-bit rendered as well. While I think the characters are nicely rendered it doesn’t fit well unless it has that 8-bit track to match. Other than that, I’ve been watching K-ON. In all stretches of the mind I should be liking this show but I’m not. They seem to reach for the goal of being a decent music club but they aren’t taking it seriously (I mean the characters in the show itself) either. It’s like they’re teetering on slice of life/event of the day to something with an actual story. The stereotypical moe-isms of the character greatly overwhelms the focus of the show, if there really is one. I’m assuming the focus is supposed to be them growing to be a decent music group but according to Yui the first time they even played together was in episode 4. How can you be serious when you’re taking things that slow? It just bothers me to no end.

If you’re looking for a solid set of Touhou jazz albums, I’d definitely consider looking into the albums by the doujin group Azure & Sands since they practically specialize in Touhou arrangements of that particular genre. And of course, I still think the best jazz piece by IOSYS is still Dead Girls Be Bop which can be found on their Suisuisuusuu album. I love that song. “Touhou Chotto Matte!” is a very solid “IOSYS covers Touhou” record.

And, why do I like it? I have *no idea*. I must be insane, because I’m not really good at shooters, and yet I enjoy these games immensely.

And there’s the whole concept of these weirdly dressed girls flying in the sky shooting stuff at other weirdly dressed girls who shoot nigh-impossible-to-dodge bullet patterns.

No clear reason. It’s just *a thing*.

Will be getting her for sure. Just got the Figma Yuki today to accompany Kyon and will be putting her up shortly. I think Yuki’s got two faces, even if they look pretty much the same, as the ears are lower on one to fit with her glasses? Will find out. Anyway, Mikuru has a lot more expressions in the anime than Yuki, which makes sense. Kyon has different faces and can do exactly the expressions of the anime: http://twitpic.com/1nmf4 (apologies for slightly out of place gundam). Also, the external hole on Yuki is round, but if you look closely, on mine at least beneath her cardigan the hole is hexagonal, too.

Oh sure, I would probably take you to task for these outlandish “four year anniversary” “longest running anime podcast” claims if we were to record something anyway. Where’s the download links and all the shows between 1 and 30-whatever? Didn’t you learn after all these years that podcasts are eternal, HUH MR…GUY?! And that was a whole different show in the first place! Oh well, you’re raking it in with your Crunchyroll millions now anyway. Play your cards right and you’ll have Netflix and Navy millions too!

i think i laughed more at the japanese version with Wakamoto Norio singing that silly song, but the spansih version was just so bad it was funny as well. What was funny is was hard to place whether it was Mexican spanish or spain spanish. since they used some words that aren’t typical in mexican spanish but more spain spanish.
