What You Should Check Out At Anime Expo 2013!

Anime Expo 2013 is almost here! It’s only one day away from the biggest anime convention in North America! I am going to run through the panels and events that I think you should check out that will be well worth your time. I hope this helps in your planning for the con. There is a lot to cover so let’s get to it!

Day One – Thursday, July 4th 2013

10 AM – Opening Ceremonies (Main Events – Hall B): I don’t know about you but I don’t feel like the con has officially started until I attend opening ceremonies. There is just something about opening ceremonies that sets the whole feeling for the con. It’s fun to see all the guests and to see and hear everyone’s excitement and enthusiasm. It’s a great way to kick off the next four days.

2 PM – Mega64: Panel For Real Americans (LP 1 – Petree Hall): Mega64 panels are always fun and always hilarious! If you are a fan of the video game based comedy group and have never been to one of their panels it’s a must attend. While their panels are mostly big Q&A sessions they are entertaining and just tons of fun. You never know what you are in store for with Mega64.

6:30 PM – huke, Good Smile Company, Ultra Super Pictures & Max Factory (LP 1 – Petree Hall): If there is one panel you attend on the first day of con make it this one! The amazing illustrator huke will be live drawing right in front of your eyes at this panel! How cool is that! If that isn’t enough Hiroaki Matsuura of Sanzigen will also be there as well as Max Watanabe of Max Factory and Takanori Aki of Good Smile Company. It’s one of the must attend panels at Anime Expo this year!

Day Two – Friday, July 5th 2013

9 AM – Culture Japan with Danny Choo (LP 2 – 502AB): Any panel I’ve attended in the past with Danny Choo has always been entertaining, fun, and inspiring. You can’t go wrong with anything Danny Choo hosts.

1:30 PM – Porno Graffitti (LP 2 – 502AB): Come see and ask Porno Graffitti questions at their Guest of Honor panel before they rock the stage at Club Nokia on Saturday!

1:45 PM – Kick Heart Premiere & Q and A with Masaaki Yuasa (LP 1 – Petree Hall): The premiere of the Kickstarter funded anime short Kick Heart is another event that is well worth looking into as well. There is even going to be a question and answer session with the director as well.

4 PM – Studio TRIGGER: Little Witch Academia Screening (LP 2 – 502AB): This is the must attend event on Friday! See the awesome anime short Little Witch Academia and Q&A with the president of Studio TRIGGER Masahiko Otsuka and voice actress Megumi Han!

5:15 PM – Noizi Ito (LP 2 – 502AB): Noizi Ito is an awesome character designer and illustrator known for her work on Haruhi Suzumiya and Shakugan no Shana. See her and ask questions at her Guest of Honor panel.

Day 3 – Saturday, July 6th 2013

10 AM – Vocaloid Panel: Mirai no Neiro “The Sound of the Future 2013” Part 1 (LP 2 – 502AB): This was one of the best panels I attended last year. They had some pretty big name vocaloid artists which was a pretty big surprise I even got to meet them and get some pictures and autographs after! If you are a vocaloid fan this is a must attend panel. I’m excited to see what they have in store for this year!

11:30 AM – Guest of Honor: George Wada Presents: Attack on Titan (LP 1 – Petree Hall): George Wada the producer for Attack on Titan will be at Anime Expo! Attack on Titan is a big hit right now so this will be one of the more highly anticipated and biggest panels at the con this year.

12 PM – Vocaloid Panel: Mirai no Neiro “The Sound of the Future 2013” Part 2 (LP 3 – 515A): The Vocaloid goodness continues with Part 2 of the Mirai no Neiro panel!

3 PM – Production I.G. Guest of Honor Panel (LP 1 – Petree Hall): Two Guest’s of Honor Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, and Kazuchika Kise from Production I.G. will be at this panel and I expect that they will be talking a lot about the highly anticipated Ghost in the Shell: ARISE!

6 PM – Porno Graffitti Concert (Club Nokia): This is the big event on Saturday! See Porno Graffitti rock the stage live at Club Nokia!

Day 4 – Sunday, July 7th 2013

11:15 AM – The Garden of Words Panel with Makoto Shinkai (LP 1 – Petree Hall): Makoto Shinkai will be at Anime Expo this year to talk about his new work The Garden of Words!

3:30 PM – Crypton Future Media, INC Presents HATSUNE MIKU (LP 2 – 502AB): Crypton Future Media will be doing a panel on Hatsune Miku. Seems like it will be an interesting panel.

5 PM – Closing Ceremonies (Main Events – Hall B): It’s sad but Anime Expo is over! Say goodbye and look forward to doing it all over again next year!

That is my guide on what I think you should be checking out at Anime Expo this year. There are tons of events other then these that are going on at con this year so check out the Anime Expo schedule and see what other panels and events are going on that interest you as well. Also if there are any other events that you think people should check out while at con let everyone know by leaving a comment down below. See you at Anime Expo 2013!

Anime Expo 2010: Fun With Mega 64!

I went to the awesomely hilarious Mega 64 panel at AX this year. If you don’t already know who or what Mega 64 is they do hilarious comedy skits based around video games. What some may not know though is that Mega 64 is actually an episodic show released only on DVD with their video games skits interwoven into the story of the show. They are hilarious and a must see if your any kind of video game fan. Their panels are also hilarious and a ton of fun! If they ever come to a con in your area and do a panel definitely check them out! Take a look at the video below that Mega 64 took of their panel at Anime Expo this year and also check out some pics of me with the Mega 64 crew and the hilarity that ensued after the panel!

One of the Mega 64 guys grabbed the camera and snapped these pics below.

Derrick also grabbed the camera and took a pic of me and everyone standing next to me at the time randomly.

Is it just me or is there something odd about this picture….

Anime Expo 2010: Danny Choo Interview
